OMG dude this is jokes I died at every moment. You got some weird vocals man. Nice finishing touch, it adds a message like "Thats me??"
or,
"Thats me."
Loved every minute of it. haha!!

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

What? I forgot to respond to a review? That's very unusual, sorry!

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed this weird thingamajig I did for fun. As for the finishing touch, it's a little bit of both XD

This is crazy man, you got good skills on the piano - skills i'm jealous of haha. But no matter, well improvised. I'll download this and probably never look at it, or listen to it completely, but that one day when I'm bored and just need to break the silence, I'll remember this, and my emotions / body & mind will be running at the tempo at which this song goes. :)

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Hahha, thanks a lot! No need to be jealous. Anyone can do this when they've played for as long as me. Proof? I basically have no sense of pitch, tbh. I just do random stuff and hope it turns out well :D

That's pretty beautifully said, actually (about the emotions running along with the tempo of the song. I will steal that, transform it a bit and make it into a song title, if I may?) :'3

Nice creativity. You took this song and added some synthetics - your own flavour - and I like that. Good use of panning to, it does sound a bit dry tho. I would have added a tad of reverb on the whole mix to give some depth of somewhat an orchestra hall.
I also wasn't really digging the snare around 1:27 onward. You made it stand out more, and to me it didn't really seem to fit. I don't know what you could have used, but I liked when the melody was sort of serving as the foundation and you had this softer snare/stick in the background.

Its still a very good track and well captured. Fantastic work!

Pretty solid. I like how you divided your rhythm into many sounds to add some adventure to it. Good use of chopping up those vocals.
I love when things are all wild and crazy and the constant use of pitch bend and millisecond breaks is all fantastic. If there is a longer version I can't wait to hear!!
Great for the clubs man. Keep it up! haha!!

WHOoA *reverb Tail* that intro, feel like sounds too clippy for my taste. But man when you get into the groove it sounds nice and mixes well in it. I like your Hi-hat shakers and how they also give this laggy forwardness to it. Great sound design for your bass and your lead. I like how they sit on top.
And what a weird sound around the 3min mark during your break. haha.

Good job! just watch on your intros, and that they don't drag to long ( just me being nit picky) but your plucky clips kinda went too long and I would have personally just added the claps after the 4th bar.

Krupinkin responds:

Will try that :) Thank you!

I can really feel the connection from The Reward. (Great episode btw for anyone who hasn't checked it out)
Nevertheless. I love your brass section what library did you use? I wanna say Cinebrass?? It sounds very warm and brings that heroic vibe.
The production is amazing and your did yourself good taking your time with it especially with expression (CC11) to add that realism.
I find it much easier to mix when everything is in the right place.

Very well done, and if you are looking for collab work I make music like this and am very much intrigued to work with you thanks to this wonderful result!

Cheers!

sleepFacingWest responds:

I actually used East West. The samples are primarily from Symphonic Orchestra, but the Tuba/cimbalo (SUUUUPER low brass) is from Hollywood Brass. Good ears! I did, in fact, jockey the expression quite heavily. I feel like the brass should always swell in and out. I also ended up sending all the brass out to a bus and added some overtone distortion to beef up the overtones. Don't tell anyone...that's my secret brass beefing up trick ;)

I'm actually concerned mostly with the reverb. I work a lot with nuance of attack (there are actually 3 french horn parts layered together to get the right articulations) and dynamics, but once I have to throw it in a room I have a hard time finding the right sound. Did the decays seem artificial?

(thanks for listening)

Holy...
not going to lie. the usual Drum & Bass can get a bit cheesy and predicable, but maybe thats not a bad thing?
I like the pumping and breathing effect and that final drop..those lead shots were a nice touch before entering back into the chorus.
I believe you mixed this very well, sometime with compression we gotta let it loose. If your really having difficulty mixing in the future try this:

1. Bring all levels down to about -5 / -4 db this allows breathing room within your whole mix so you can add as well as subtract volume.
2. solo out your drums and level those out accordingly (EQ / compression / effects ) Get what you want out of them
3. Do the same with your leads and harmonies

I find soloing out tracks and working on one track one at time can get the sound I want. To me it makes all the difference.

Cheers and well done!

SynchroSpectre responds:

Ooh, I see now. I thought the volume was just always up. This is actually my first time dealing with this type of music (where the drums and synths are loud af), so I had no idea what I was doing. To practice, I just came up with a generic DnB melody and I thought it sounded great so it became this.

The type of music I work with is the more chill and soft kind where you relax and drift away into a trance. This song was just a nice change; I might get into this genre or other similar kind.

Thanks for the review mate, I really apreciate it :DD

Really digging this man! I'm loving that lead, you slay those riffs and keep me grooving to it. I don't know if this is so much Chipstep as it is Disco with those 16th high hats. I don't know the full characteristics of Chipstep, but no matter.

Great mixing and sound design. Your transitions are very smooth how you introduce other harmonies and have these dips and dives. Nothing ever stays the same with those crazy solos!
Love it!

You should put this on band camp or iTunes. i would totally buy this.

johnfn responds:

Wow, thanks! I've had a couple of people mention disco, which I find kinda funny because I have never listened to a disco song as far as I can remember. Hooray for independent reinvention of genres! :P (I put all my chiptune in chipstep because there is no chiptune genre. Thanks mods for thinking that chipstep is a genre but chiptune isn't -_-)

Thanks for the nice words! I don't think I'm gonna write an album in the immediate future, but then again, who knows..? :O...

What funky track, so funky I chuckled a bit.
Sounds like something I would hear in Banjo Kazooie.

Good use of instruments to portray the same melody. Based on the instruments you used, it keeps it sounding cartoonish, which is why I'm enjoying it so much. Really could be used for a video game haha.

Awesome!

Bertn1991 responds:

Thank you!! It's a fun sorta song, bouncy and silly. It was fun to make. Thanks again for your kind words : )

Not to bad of a mix
You set a good intensity with your strings. Kick has a nice transient. Snare is punchy which is even better!
The weird effect was trippy, but enjoyable.

Things I didn't like was that it was the same groove and didn't have a real A - B progression, even though you added instruments towards the end, to make it sound "epic" it gets repetitive. Also try adding brass! Brass really adds to the intensity. Especially those french horns, they give a nice warm sound. Or if you don't want to do that, make the choir stand out more in front of the mix with some compression and EQing & automation
Also that the track just cut out with no real ending??

CHSChaosWolf responds:

I cut that track like that because mostly people don't use the full track. Plus I actually made it repetitive on purpose for like games or whatever people want to use it for. The second version is actually going to have more. I do appreciate the critics.
