I'm a fan of chillstep. I like how things sound "almost" hectic in a mix haha.
I like the feel you present in the beginning and slowly introduce more drums and your lead. However I feel more production could be added. Maybe a second lead to follow your main one?

Also I would recommend trying to add different chord changes instead of the same 4 chords on the piano, you do add a few small riffs, but I feel you should expand your creativity, in fact I encourage it. Add various movement to keep your listeners interested!

You got a good sense of melody and rhythm and I was definitely chilled listening to this. Keep it up!

Very odd. I know you made this long on purpose but, it really drags out for a long time. I skipped most of your track just to hear the changes. It wasn't very interesting.

jambrother2 responds:

no worries, that was the idea. It's supposed to be minimalistic and atmospheric. It wouldn't be a drone song if it was super compact and eventful. I just decided to stop catering to other peoples needs and focus on what I like personally.
If you think this is bad, swans have a song called the seer that pretty much does this for thirty minutes. It's and acquired taste I guess. thanks for the review.

Well executed track, You really got me lost throughout the piece as there was a lot of instruments doing its part while still trying to stay coherent with the whole mix. Very difficult to do. To me though it did sound a tad muddy.
I like the cinematic bridge as well as the outro. at 1:30 when the strings expression goes up and jumps down rapidly...wasn't feeling it, seemed too fast and I thought it sounded kinda fake.

Overall though it sounded pretty good, very nice use of several string libraries I am assuming. And those cool trill effects and risers.

Phonometrologist responds:

Thank you for your honest review. I'll be sure to return the favor!
Your critiques are well noted, and I even edited the moment at 1:30 to make it less apparent of my use of a cheap violin sample lol. I really dislike mimicking lyrics with the use of sample libraries, and when it comes to production I just decided to call it quits so I can move on to other more interesting projects-- so much to do and so little time. Muddiness is fine by me as I prefer a slightly more dirty production. I'm in the mindset that not everything needs to be heard so clearly.
The outro is my favorite part as it fits more of my interests.

Really like the feel. You really capture that dark scene, but towards the end, it sounds uplifting, nice touch there. Very nice and smooth movement & change in intensity. Really enjoyed it.
What kind of Piano did you use? Do you record or is this a sampled piano?

PianoFortress responds:

Thanks for the kind words. This is a sampled piano, a Yamaha C3-Neo from the Alicia's Keys library.

Already love the Intro. Great cinematic Intro followed with a lovely transition. When the Beat drops, the melody was superb. Not boring or receptive what so ever. I love all the textures you use and how in the middle of the song we go into this deep house kinda feel. Can't get enough of the vocal you used either and the super saw that follows.
At 5:14 when you have a drum solo, I would have personally cranked up the volume a little just because its just two instruments being heard for that little bit and also to make the overall track a little bit warmer.
But man, I gotta tell ya, listening to it was one hell of a roller coaster. Great Job!

Frozenith responds:

Thanks for listen, thanks for the review, and thanks for support my work buying the song! You're great man!

LMAO way to end it off jazzy. This is freaking cool as hell! so much raw talent. Great job guys!

Really good composition here man. Being my picky self, I just wished it the song moved a little more, but if this was going into a short film or video game cut scene for example then it would work perfectly!
You also mixed it really well to make it sound realistic & how you express the strings and give a sense of depth. Good job! Keep it up!

The track has a very good mystical and kinda spooky feel. Hope it goes great for your game. Can't wait to see how you implement it.

xxxZigZagxxx responds:

Thanks Nick. :)

This is very well arranged and I really like the changes, nothing really shouts at me, which is nice, because I want to close my eyes and enjoy it. :D
I like 1:25 outro, the soft brass brings a nice touch...this track is absolutely awesome, but more importantly.. REALLY MAKES ME WANNA BUY EWQL!!! XD

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Oh, I'm sorry! I forgot to reply to this review until now D:
Thanks a lot for the encouraging words ;)

Yeah, EWQL is really great :D
Once I get more time, I'll experiment with it more XD

Dude this is amazing! Why haven't I heard this yet.. Oh wait..its cause I didn't fan you. Well I just fixed that.
