I like how spooky it sounds in the first few seconds! Then it starts getting all mystical. I like the how the flute and, (what sounds like a clarinet?) go well with a call and return. The Bells all they way through really give it that ambient/calm feel. Kinda wished it just ended that way...but thats just because it reminds me of the mood in Minecraft. haha

Regardless Good track. No real issues in regards to mixing or arranging. Well Done!

LawnReality responds:

Thank you! :D I'm glad you liked it. That is a Bass Clarinet, yeah.

I really enjoyed it. Nothing was repetitive. I was lost the whole way through. :)
I like how it started off slow and pick up later on. Great creativity!
I always find creating solo compositions a pain, simply because thats all you rely on and there needs to be a lot of movement. But you do just that very effectively.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks, NicholasCabraja!
I actually have it the other way around! As I'm so used to it, I'm actually pretty good at composing solo piano compositions. I'm trying to get better at other kinds of compositions too though :3
Sometimes, you don't need lots of movement either. Simple things can be very touching :)

This is really good man. What an adventure you set here. I was in the moment as soon as I heard the sword draw :) Great intro!

And your using my personal favourite instrument, THE HARP!! :D

Everything, from beginning to end is amazing. You really do a good job picking the right sounds and layering them very well. I also like how you set the punches in your percussion to stand out on every 3rd and 4th beat ...very nice

Glad you finished this, it certainly paid off!

Stadler responds:

Wow, what a review!

You've described the exact effect I was going for, so this is seriously awesome. And fantastic that you noticed the effort I put into this, even only being a 1:38 long. It really means a lot to me!

The harp might be my favorite now as well, haha. Thought it sounded pretty cool paired up with the fast violin/xylophone too!

I'm glad you liked it, and thanks for listening!

You found my weakness! I really love western music! The guitar riffs and how you make several plucked instruments fight against each other is awesome! The only thing that made me turn down my volume was at 2:05 where the song reaches it climax. Its too loud and in my face! Volume automation on those trumpets! Other than that I enjoyed this arrangement. Good Job!

MurrayAtkinson responds:

thanx Nicholas I appreciate your comments! Glad to hear you had the music cranked! Yes the trumpets are a bit blazing...but thats what they are supposed to do! Anyways thanx for writing and glad you liked it. Ill watch the trumpets on the next one:)

I'm really digging the build ups you've created. For an unmixed composition this is a really good start. In fact I think you wouldn't need to do much mixing in terms of dynamics. Sad to hear you couldn't finish it. Guess you learned the hard way to always have back-ups and keep it off your computer!! Haha.
Regardless, a very good arrangement!
If your interested, Check out a song I uploaded. Im into this genre and would appreciate feedback.
All the best!

I love it. Almost makes me feel like I'm walking down the streets of paris and its pouring rain.
this piece really sets the mood.

Very soothing I fully enjoyed it. You could take it even further and make go in another direction (Harp solo) then a violin comes in at one point. Just to make things more interesting and have a sense of verse and a chorus.
Having said that, I still like the limitation of two intruments simply because sometimes, thats all you need.
Well done.

This music helps me focus on work and makes me easily relax. Your climax's aren't to overwhelming and I love it. Please keep doing what you do. This is perfect!

Keegs responds:

Thanks, man! We have a couple more songs like this on our Soundcloud!

Glad you liked it! :)

I'm digging your mix. Not a huge fan of the vibrato synth, but thats just me. From beginning to end however, I slowly fell into the atmospheric world you created, especially when the big drop came. That was awesome, and the finishing twinkle background noises with a echo piano gave me chills. Wonderful.

Technical side, your levels are good, everything was loud and well balanced. Wonderful Job!

SunStarsMoon responds:

Thank you! Very helpful!

Please make this longer...because its sooo awesome.
